Customs Pricing

I do offer custom orders for wool longies, soakers, shorties, skirties, and soaker sacks. Knitting these has become a real passion of mine. I think it’s mostly because they look so stinkin’ cute on babies!

I've been busy!

Wednesday, December 10, 2008
I had previously decided to make all one kind of NB diapers for this new little one. However, I've got pattern/project ADD it seems, so I was wanting to experiment a little. In the process, I've discovered how I will make all soaker layers from now on. :) I made some larges for DD to test 'em out.

Here's a Hippy Hippy Snap AI2:

Here's a LCT One-Size at largest setting:

Here's a SFS (Super Front Snap) Large:

Stocking

Friday, November 21, 2008
I have plently of custom spots available.
I do plan to stock some already made longies on January 1st. I will showcase them here. I will be joining a congo cart collaboration and they will be available for sale there. :)

I'm looking forward to working with some really great yarn I have!

Started my NB Stash!

So I've finally decided how to create our newborn stash of cloth diapers! I'm using the Chloe Toes pattern and I've modified the soaker greatly! I'm making a stash of preemie for the very beginning. Also, my preemies and newborn size are going to all have gussets. I want to be prepared for skinny legs and a tiny newborn. Here's some pics! I have 8 done, a bazillion to go!!

A Tester Diaper

I found a great diaper pattern to test for. It's a Super Front Snap. This is a size Large. I had a fun time sewing this up and it fits K wonderfully!!!
Thanks, Val!

HHS Custom Order

Wednesday, October 22, 2008
I had a lovely mama contact me at the beginning of last week. She liked the used diapers she bought from me, so she wanted more! I ordered printed pul just for her. It arrived on Friday and I was able to sew them Friday afternoon. Here they are:

Dozen Cloth Diapers!

Tuesday, October 14, 2008
I started on Saturday and got everything cut out for a dozen diapers. Phew! I was even able to serge the soaker layers. Then, I spent Sunday sewing! I love doing it, but next time it will be in smaller batches! I'm very happy to have these done, though. K is wearing them and they are working great!!! They are medium size Chloe Toes AIO's.

Baby Present for a Friend

Thursday, October 9, 2008

We know of so many preggo's right now! I'm just glad that I get to be one at the same time. It's just a mini baby boom around here!

Anyway, I saw the pattern for this in the current issue of Crochet Today magazine, ordered up the yarn, and got to work! It took me 4 evenings, start-to-finish. I only knit/crochet in the evenings. So quick, it will definately be a mainstay in my pattern collection.

It's a stroller blanket. It's small and just the perfect size for in the stroller or car seat. It turned out beautiful!

Hope Sarah likes it!!!

Yarn Dye

I am so excited! I found a mama out there (in cyberspace) who dyes yarn!! Yippee!!
I just sent her two 8 oz skeins of fisherman yarn to dye. I canNOT wait to get these back.
It's like DIY for yarn! LOVE IT!!!

Newest Set Completed

Friday, October 3, 2008

I just finished this set for a very nice mama over at diaperswappers. We even had enough yarn for a matching hat. :) These are a size Large knit with the Sheepy Time pattern and Plymouth Galaway yarn. So so yummy!!!

I just have to share!

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

I just have to share this adorable outfit I knit up for our friends. They are expecting their first baby, a girl, in December. I'm hoping to get her to try some cloth diapers and she is open minded about it. :) Hee, hee! So here's her first longies!!!

Also included is a sweater and a hat. :) I love it!!!

My Previous Work

I just wanted to take a minute to show you some of the previous work I've done. None of these pieces are available for sale.

Successful Trip!

Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Well, my trip to the yarn store was very successful!!! I LOVE wool yarn. I was able to find a few skeins that were the only ones in stock, so I got them for 30% off vs. 20% off. If the store is still around and owned by the same gal when my B-day comes around in December, I will get 25% off, or 30% if it's the last of the colorway. Which ever discount is greater. So, hopefully I can get some custom orders and be able to earn enough to make another successful trip there!

Email me at tailenddesigns@yahoo.com or send me a pm on diaperswappers, my name there is wanamingomommy.

Trip to the Yarn Store

Friday, September 19, 2008
My favorite yarn store is closing it's doors. It's a shame because I just found it this spring. It's the closest (40 min away) yarn store to me that sells top of the line, mostly wool yarn. It's difficult at best to take the kiddo's there because it's an old victorian house. The main floor is all fabric and the upstairs is wool. I was waiting until my birthday to go and spend a lot of money because you get 25% off on your B-day. Well, I just learned they are closing. Right now it's all 20% and an extra 10% if you take the last of a colorway.

So we're taking the big trip there TODAY!!!!!! I'm so excited that I feel like I have a body buzz!!! Hubby is golfing today, so I've allowed myself a few extra dollars to spend. Revenge spending? I don't know.

I'm working on getting a slideshow up of my current in-stock yarns for customs. So this will only add to that slideshow!

Wish me lot 'o luck!!!

Sizing for Longies, Shorties & Soakers

Please take your measurements over the cloth diaper that will be worn under the soaker.
Longies aren't just for cloth diapers! They make great unique pants! If it is not intended for cloth diaper use, let me know! Just a few small adjustments in my knitting are all that's needed!

How to measure:
Rise is measured from just above the back of the diaper, throught the crotch, and up to the front above the diaper.
Hip is measured around the widest part.
Inseam is measured from groin to ankle.

New Undies!

Saturday, September 13, 2008

I was able to sew a little yesterday. Here are the undies I sewed for J. I made a trial pair a week ago out of an old ARMY t-shirt. He likes them better than his store-bought undies! So I had these cut out and was able to find 10 minutes to sew them together. He likes that they don't have elastic to them. The knit fabric is stretchy enough to act as waist and leg bands. All of his newly bought undies seem to have elastic issues. Why do they have to frey after one washing? That leaves a tiny piece of elastic that inevitably gets caught somewhere in his pants and snaps him. While it's kind of funny to see, ya gotta feel for the kid!

Whispers and Lies

Friday, September 12, 2008
I just wanted to take a minute to review a book I just read. I had this sitting

on my shelf for I don't know how long. I read the back cover and it was just too interesting to pass up.

So it sat there until now.

I read this 300+ page novel in 3 days! Quite an accomplishment for a busy SAHM! I could NOT put it down!!!

Without giving anything away, I'll give a brief synopsis. It's about a 40-year old woman, Terry, who rents out the cottage in her back yard to a 28-year old woman. They become friends quickly but Terry can't help but feel that there's something wrong. Before long, the reader starts to feel paranoid as well. Everything comes together in a HUGE TWIST at the end. You would never believe it! No way!!! Whoa!!!

Read it, read it, read it!!!
I think Joy Fielding may be my new favorite author!

Next book: Stalking Susan by Julie Kramer.

My Intro Blog

Thank you for visiting my blog!
I've always wanted to start one, but never really knew what I'd talk about.
Well here it is!

I'll start by telling a little about myself.
I am a stay-at-home mom of a 4yo and 18mo. We also have one more on the way!
I absolutely love my job! It's the most amazing thing to wake up every day and see the smiling faces of my loves all day long. Okay, they don't smile all day, but that's what I chose to reflect on at the end of the day. :) I won't lie. It's the hardest job I have ever loved; with my whole heart!

I would love to be a WAHM (work-at-home-mom). I have many talents. I am an accountant by trade and crafter by heart. If I could make one of those talents earn a little extra income for my family, I'd be set. That's my ultimate goal.

What is it that I can do?
Well, I sew and knit mostly. I also love to read, but can't imagine anyone paying me to do that. (But if you are someone who needs a review of a novel or article and you do pay, please email me!!!!)

We use cloth diapers on our 18 mo pretty much full time. The exception being when we go out.
Now that I'm pregnant and can't stand the smell of overnight cloth diapers, we use sposies at night too. The cost of name brand cloth diapers is out of my league, so I make all of our cloth diapers. We don't even own one name brand diaper!

I have become a Hippy Hippy Snap and Fattycakes approved seamstress.
This means I can make and sell from their patterns.

I also just paid for my license to knit and sell from the SheepyTime Pants pattern.

I LOVE to knit. That's what I do at the end of the day to relax. I ALWAYS have a project on my needles!! I would love to knit custom longies/shorties for you too! I can do soakers and skirties too, they just won't be with the SheepyTime pattern. I haven't saved up enough to buy those licenses!

I will be posting pictures of my work as time allows. Some items I post here will be for sale. Others, just for show.

Please email me (tailenddesigns@yahoo.com) if you'd like me to make any cloth diapers or knit any wool for you, or if you have any other questions! There is currently no waiting list and most orders are completed in one week, from when all materials are collected. I will also knit with your yarn. So if you fall in love with some yarn, scoop it up and send me an email!

Thanks for reading my blog!
